    in celebration of the upcoming movie, i wanted to ask what everyone's favorite episodes are! it occurred to me during the last podcast that i can't seem to rattle off my favorite firefly and buffy episodes but i can talk about scully and mulder ad nauseum, to the utter chagrin of everyone around me.

    i am of the school of thought that the non-alien related episodes tend to be far more interesting...

    My favorites, in order:

    1. Humbug = this is hands down my favorite episode. it's the freakshow episode.
    2. The Post-Modern Prometheus = the b&w frankenstein with bonus of a Cher impersonator.
    3. Bad Blood = vampire comedy, Rashomon style of different viewpoints from Mulder and Scully.
    4. Home = Peacock family, warns against the creepy side-effects of inbreeding. just say no!
    5. Jose Chung's From Outer Space = seriously funny, plus Alex Trebek.
    6. The Host = human tapeworm/lamprey eel, nightmares galore for weeks. excellent monster.
    7. Arcadia = i didn't really care about the monster but Mulder and Scully posing as a married couple is hilarious to me.
    8. Squeeze/Tooms = liver-eating guy, uber-creepy actor.

    I never really watched it that much, but I do remember the episode where all the electronic devices are telling this guy to kill people. Also, the one with the two magician brothers. One of them dies and the other uses his body to perform a head-turning trick. I don't remember that much beyond that.

    Squeeze/Tooms for the win. I really wasn't a fan of the big conspiracy arc but for excellent monster of the week stuff X-files is to this day hard to beat for excellent frights and chills.

    I was also a big fan of the monster-of-the-week stuff on the show. My favorite episodes, even though I don't know them by name:

    1. The one with the Martian baseball player who joins a black league in the 1950s.
    2. The one with the cockroaches from outer space and the entomologist named Bambi.
    3. The one where Mulder keeps re-living the same day over and over.
