    The Moog guitar!

It's not a synth, but it can do some amazing things. Infinite sustain on all strings/all frets simultaneously. Its like having an e-bow on every string.

I don't play guitars without colorful plastic buttons on them, but that is freaking amazing. Now I want to know what Tool could come up with with a few of those...

that's really so so so cool, i just wish that moog would have made a guitar that didn't look like it fell out of korn's touring trailer.

It does have a bit of Ibanez pointyness to it. They could have gone with a nice faux-PRS style.

i would assume that would have been their motive, to make some sort of variaxish guitar. i'm not a fan of prs style (or tone for that matter) but it does seem like a more logical conclusion rather than a luthier from the 1990s idea of what a space age guitar would look like.

  • my rg550 hungers for those pickum-ups. I wonder what sort of 'special metallurgy' they were talking about in the strings.

This would be terrific on bass, I would create some new form of tech bassery...

This is actually kind of insulting. The concept of infinite sustain instantly kills many rather basic fretting techniques, and generally Moog is a bit of a tool.... no offense. People who rely on synths to prop up their instrumentation should consider just buying an acoustic guitar. When you add so many different fake things to something that was once real, at what point do those additives begin to hinder the actual artistic quality of that instrument? I.E: Autotune utterly murdering the once pure, and imperfect, human voice. Sorry Joel. I miss Jimi Hendrix.

First of all, it's a guitar with a toothpick and a flashlight; it doesn't want to insult anybody. I'd have to disagree that it's in any way decreasing the spirit of the guitar any more than the XBox's existence decreased the spirit of the PS2. They both play games, they're just different. It's a neat toy, and that's probably all it'll ever be. Similarly, autotune doesn't murder the human voice as much as it makes people laugh (like me). Neat toy. Not a replacement. You could argue that piling features onto an instrument, like the guitar, perverts its spirit, but I would reply that that spirit is entire up to the person holding the instrument. Over the years guitars have 'added' various things to their bulk: sliders, picks, volume knobs, whammy bars, start and select buttons... (joking). The point is that every "evolutionary step" along the way is still produced, played, and treasured for its unique sound. Whew! Thanks for giving me something to think about.

Ha ha, well said, but I completely disagree with your statement on autotune. It is in no way funny. It's disgusting to me as a vocalist who's spent years honing my vocal talents.
