I've been searching the internet looking for that quote for the last 10 minutes. I fail at being a geek!
Posted By: Mike BradyYou did find it right? It'sPlanet of the Apesof course - classic line. Anyway, as soon as they started bringing out the champagne bottles before even checking on the planet I knew it was trouble. I also considered the possibility that the Earthlings would start firing missiles at their unexpected visitors, though, triggering some sort of calamity.
So ... only 4 of the 5 were on Galactica during Deanna's request? In Soviet Russia, Hoop-Dee-Doo reviews you!
It was stated that the final Cylon was not in the fleet, so it was either on the basestar when that was said or it's somewhere else.
I'm going with the later.
Also, I have been joking with some friends of mine that earth would be a nuclear wasteland for a while now. Oh the irony.
Maybe it was just the shittiest part of earth. Did anyone think to check a different continent?
I too was expecting there to be hostile earthlings, or a planet already full of Cylons.
Josh thought it would be cool if as they approached earth they saw all the earthlings in ships fleeing from mushroom clouds in the opposite direction.
"We just blew up earth! We have to find the mythical 12 colonies!"
Posted By: RoLAnyone else surprised that they reached Earth so soon? I was expecting them to get there before the series finale, say 3 episodes ish before, but now? Very interesting, but I'm baffled at how it may proceed from here.
I think that viper is the 5th
also I was rather underwhelmed during the whole episode...the only exciting bit was arriving at earth. The whole thing seemed very predictable.

Posted By: melkorI'm hoping there is some kind of insane tibe of post-nuclear war humans, who are all suffering from various mutations due to radiation.

I was expecting them to show up on Earth and realize it was the 80's like in the Voyage Home.
I'd love to see Adama and Tigh sitting on a city bus, and Tigh fucks some punk kid up for giving him the finger.

I enjoyed the shit eating grin the Tyrol had when they arrested them.
He was all, "Yeah, I'm a frakkin' toaster."

Posted By: AaronI just got caught up on Galactica this year and this season was really killing the buzz I had coming off the first three. This finale makes up for every mistake they made though. Hopefully they can keep the momentum going off of this episode. You try the best you can. The best you can is good enough.
io9 made an interesting reveal. Read at your own risk:
| Spoilers (highlight to read) |
| In the previews for the back half of the season we see Starbuck looking into a bonfire. Apparently a "shred" of script got out that stated that she found her old Viper... and her old body! She of course incinerates both (hence the bonfire). So this implies that the "new" Starbuck was vat-grown and infused with her old memories. Sound familiar? That pretty much eliminates any differences between human and Cylon. |
I was reading some of the other blog posts they have there, and this one has convinced me that Revelations was but a shell of what it should and could have been.
I wasn't convinced by all the little asides they made, but I do agree with them that it doesn't feel like there's much reason to wait 6+ months because it doesn't feel like there's much story to wrap up. Mission accomplished: so what? Why should we care enough to stick this through? I will, of course, and I'm glad they didn't shove some big stupid cliffhanger at us. But give us something more to think about, you know?
IIRC there's supposed to be a straight-to-TV movie coming out later this year. It's assumed to be set earlier in the timeline but maybe it will toss out some good questions.
Having time to digest it and watch it again i'm just really disappointed in it. The post Arcys linked to nailed alot of the problems i have with it. Important things forgotten, big reveals rushed, it just struck me as though the entire first half of the final season was really poorly planned and they didn't story board any of the big plot points or reveals out, they just wrote whatever popped into their heads.
Ok, I final got caught up last night! I must say Earth was simultaneously a HUGE letdown and a giant LOLfest! I had the same thought about the Viper being the final Cylon, but D'Anna (or however you spell it) said the 5th wasn't among the fleet. I about laughed my ass of at her little joke about Roslin being a cylon. The look on Laura's face was priceless! I also loved Tyrol's sense of humor about being found out.
