  • MelkorMelkor June 2008

    Holy shit.

They get to Earth...and it's a fucking nuclear wasteland. Good job residents of Earth, good job!

    I'm still laughing hysterically.

I've been searching the internet looking for that quote for the last 10 minutes. I fail at being a geek!

I like how they reminded us of Gaeta's leg. Thank the gods he didn't sing.

Also, I would have thought that they would treat the Final Five like they do Athena or at least like the Six the have in the brig.

I thought Eli's friend Jésus killed them all.

You did find it right? It's Planet of the Apes of course - classic line. Anyway, as soon as they started bringing out the champagne bottles before even checking on the planet I knew it was trouble. I also considered the possibility that the Earthlings would start firing missiles at their unexpected visitors, though, triggering some sort of calamity.

So ... only 4 of the 5 were on Galactica during Deanna's request?

Yeah, I knew what movie it was. I just got distracted by something else before I actually found it.

We only know about four of the final five. Three of them (Tigh, Tyrol, and Anders) were on Galactica during the standoff with D'Anna. The fourth one, Tori, was on the Baseship with D'Anna. She got there buy saying that she was going to take Roslin her medication as a ploy to get over to the Baseship undetected.

It was stated that the final Cylon was not in the fleet, so it was either on the basestar when that was said or it's somewhere else.
    I'm going with the later.

Also, I have been joking with some friends of mine that earth would be a nuclear wasteland for a while now. Oh the irony.

  • FerrosFerros June 2008

Honestly, i'd much rather have found out who the fifth Cylon was than see them get to Earth even if it was as funny as hell watching them all walking around looking dumb because we'd already nuked it to hell.

  • joeljoel June 2008

Maybe it was just the shittiest part of earth. Did anyone think to check a different continent?

I too was expecting there to be hostile earthlings, or a planet already full of Cylons.

Josh thought it would be cool if as they approached earth they saw all the earthlings in ships fleeing from mushroom clouds in the opposite direction.

Anyone else surprised that they reached Earth so soon? I was expecting them to get there before the series finale, say 3 episodes ish before, but now? Very interesting, but I'm baffled at how it may proceed from here.

Either they ditch earth to find where the 13th tribe went, or to just dont stay because its nuked.

I'm hoping there is some kind of insane tibe of post-nuclear war humans, who are all suffering from various mutations due to radiation.

  • DramDram June 2008

I hope to god the series doesn't end with a pregnant Starbuck holding hands with some guy (doesn't matter who) newly married, looking over the crest of a hill at a freshly terraformed valley.

Wait a minute... do you call it terraforming if it's earth?

  • FrackTruckFrackTruck June 2008

I think that viper is the 5th

also I was rather underwhelmed during the whole episode...the only exciting bit was arriving at earth. The whole thing seemed very predictable.

  • Mike+BradyMike Brady June 2008

Posted By: FrackTruckI think that viper is the 5th

Yeah, I considered that, but Deanna said that only 4 Cylons were on the fleet, and those were all accounted. If the 5th was already on the basestar surely Deanna would have sought it out already. It seems like the 5th is probably somewhere else...

The fact that the pregnant-Six story got swept under the rug this episode might lend a little weight to the fetus being the final Cylon. But if that was the case surely Deanna would have demanded the release of the Six. Then again, how would she know about it, having been so recently revived? I'm still chalking that theory up as plausible.

  • 15step15step June 2008

I can't believe they got to earth already. I was not expecting that at all!! The last shot panning over everyone in the cast as it hit them that Earth was a wasteland was brilliant.

It's not Earth, it's Talos IV! RUN!

The thought of the viper being the fifth Cylon occured to me as well and oh my god did i cringe...

  • I was expecting them to show up on Earth and realize it was the 80's like in the Voyage Home.

I'd love to see Adama and Tigh sitting on a city bus, and Tigh fucks some punk kid up for giving him the finger.

  • FerrosFerros June 2008

Oh god! It could've gone all Galactica 1980 on us.

That would have been pretty frakking great. I'm still in shock that Earth was a bust. Still!

  • ArcysArcys June 2008

I enjoyed the shit eating grin the Tyrol had when they arrested them.

He was all, "Yeah, I'm a frakkin' toaster."

I just got caught up on Galactica this year and this season was really killing the buzz I had coming off the first three. This finale makes up for every mistake they made though. Hopefully they can keep the momentum going off of this episode.

I had re watched the other three prior to the premier, and the fourth season was a bit of a downer on several points.

  • AaronAaron June 2008

I just hope it doesn't go into them sitting around in radiation talking about religion for the last 11 episodes.

Exactly what the show doesn't need, less space battles more philosophy...

  • TankobiteTankobite June 2008

Lofl planet of the apes. Seriously though, wonder wtf is going to happen next.

  • Mike+BradyMike Brady June 2008

io9 made an interesting reveal. Read at your own risk:

    Spoilers (highlight to read)
In the previews for the back half of the season we see Starbuck looking into a bonfire. Apparently a "shred" of script got out that stated that she found her old Viper... and her old body! She of course incinerates both (hence the bonfire). So this implies that the "new" Starbuck was vat-grown and infused with her old memories. Sound familiar? That pretty much eliminates any differences between human and Cylon.

Galactica: Variants has a shot by shot analysis of the 8-second preview.

  • ArcysArcys June 2008

I was reading some of the other blog posts they have there, and this one has convinced me that Revelations was but a shell of what it should and could have been.

I wasn't convinced by all the little asides they made, but I do agree with them that it doesn't feel like there's much reason to wait 6+ months because it doesn't feel like there's much story to wrap up. Mission accomplished: so what? Why should we care enough to stick this through? I will, of course, and I'm glad they didn't shove some big stupid cliffhanger at us. But give us something more to think about, you know?

IIRC there's supposed to be a straight-to-TV movie coming out later this year. It's assumed to be set earlier in the timeline but maybe it will toss out some good questions.

  • FerrosFerros June 2008

Having time to digest it and watch it again i'm just really disappointed in it. The post Arcys linked to nailed alot of the problems i have with it. Important things forgotten, big reveals rushed, it just struck me as though the entire first half of the final season was really poorly planned and they didn't story board any of the big plot points or reveals out, they just wrote whatever popped into their heads.

  • Ok, I final got caught up last night! I must say Earth was simultaneously a HUGE letdown and a giant LOLfest! I had the same thought about the Viper being the final Cylon, but D'Anna (or however you spell it) said the 5th wasn't among the fleet. I about laughed my ass of at her little joke about Roslin being a cylon. The look on Laura's face was priceless! I also loved Tyrol's sense of humor about being found out.
