So I have to admit I'm not really a huge Whedon fan. I don't hate his work, I just haven't been exposed to it really. I used to watch Buffy on and off, and Dollhouse looks pretty cool, but I haven't gotten into any of his other work.
So I actually made and effort to change this, the other day I rented season one of Firefly. And... I didn't do anything for me. Am I missing something? Does it get better later in the season?
The first episode does move a bit slow. For me by the end of the first disk i was absolutely hooked and ended plowing through the whole thing in two nights. You didn't say what episode you got to, but I would recommend to stick to it.
I agree with Muttonhead. The first episode is almost all character introductions, and they go pretty slowly. Stick with it. If you finish the series, make sure to watch the movie, Serenity, as well. It answers a lot of the questions that the series poses.
I watched the whole first disc, and yeah it was pretty slow, lots of character introductions, which I can understand. Maybe I'll give it another chance and finish the season.
