  • Ok, we all have them; bands (or songs) that we are ashamed to admit we enjoy, so spill it! Who do you hate to love?

    Poison

  • ArcysArcys July 2008

I really like me some Incomplete by the Backstreet Boys.
I consider myself Libertarian, but I live in a Republican household. Listening to System of a Down, or anything by Serj would be bad if found out.
I do sing-a-long to some Spicegirls when it comes up on my iPod.

I'm in the same boat. :-P I like them the same way I like Fall Out Boy; for radio pop rock, it ain't half bad.

Biggest guilty pleasure? Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone". The runners-up are "Untouched" by the Veronicas and this little number.

No, never. Nostalgia is fun and perfectly acceptable. One night, a bunch of us were drinking, and somebody whipped out their cartoon themes playlist; what ensued was the greatest drunken singalong ever! OH-EE-OH! TAILSPIN!

    Dashing and daring,
    Courageous and caring,
Faithful and friendly with stories to share....

I don't think I have any shame bands—at least, none that I can think of off the top of my head.

I have a sick addiction to 80's hair metal. Poison, Motley Crue, Alice Coopers comeback all that stuff. I do credit it with getting me into the music i listen to today though because Pantera were originally a hair metal band and i stuck with their music through thick and thin.

Ever listen to Pretty Boy Floyd? And if you want something with that hair metal sound, but a little more modern, I'd suggest looking into Robin Black.

Whether his one solo hit, or Journey, I just can't help myself I will sing along at the top of my lungs every time. Also, Blue October, ZZ Top, Eminem, Flyleaf, Guns and Roses and Staind. Additionally, I have an undying love for the songs "Sister Christian", "Funkytown", "Eye of the Tiger" and other one hit wonder songs of my youth. I have issues.

I can't think of any titles off the top of my head but often when I'm in the car with my family and a horrible soft rock station is on there will be a song or two that come on that I start singing along to in my head. Also there is a lot of oldies station songs that I know word for word.

Lately my girlfriend has got me hooked on Coheed and Cambria and My Chemical Romance. I used to want to blow my brains out when I heard those bands.

Since Journey has been mentioned i've gotta through Boston into the mix. More than a feeling rocks! As a sidebar, WTF was with the Sopranos ending and Journey playing over the top of a fade to black, seriously. There's nothing wrong with liking ZZ Top, just straight up old fashioned rock music great stuff.

I'm glad you said that. I have plenty of friends who religiously hate them and I really don't understand that. When I used to not like them it's because I was in my shitty phase in high school where I didn't like anything that didn't sound like explosions with Cookie Monster singing over them.

  • DramDram July 2008

Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Creed, Linkin Park (I used to... before...), Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani(I was going to say it before the above post!), any metal that was released when I finally gained access to a working radio that I used in secret in the rafters of my garage (around 2000 or so), and many, many more. If you think I'm a total fairy check the regular music thread. My testicles have descended. Feel.

With bands like these people eventually start to criticize them for what types of fans they have and forever associate the band with the fans and forget about the music. I know that MyChem has a large % of preteen and teen angsty gothy sad-kids, and Coheed attracts more emo kids that one would think but I listen to these bands on my iPod alone so it's just me and the music. Doesnt really enter into my thoughts who else might be enjoying this music. Honestly I wouldnt give a shit if I was their only fan who WASN'T Circus Clown fetishist. It wouldnt change the way I enjoy their music.
