I nearly messed myself when Portal 2 was announced. I had read about it earlier, but actually hearing it was amazing to me.

I never played Gears of War, because my parent thought games like that would warp me. Needless, I will get GoW2. I'll probably get Fallout and Fable.

The new dashboard can go suck it. I think they could streamline the one they have now, but the new one looks like shit to me. Two words: FRAK AVATARS.

I really like the new design, I play Rock Band with a bunch of Non-gamers, and I think that new interface will be 10x easier on them. The Netflix caused me to mess myself, but now I have to wait until fall :(

Did you guys see the Rock Band 2 Information? Holy Monkey Jesus riding cyborg velociraptors, I am complete, and Guitar Hero might as well commit suicide at this point :P. 500 songs for the entirety of Rock Band by the end of the year, plus Harmonix is generous enough to give away 20 songs for free DLC because they couldn't fit on the disk. And for $5, you can download most of RB1's tracks.

I think the FFXIII for 360 announcement ended the console war, but that's just me.

Not for the fanboys it didn't oh god the internet has been in an uproar since that was announced. It makes me cry tears of hilarity and joy seeing people get so riled up about something so stupid. I just wish all the Sony and Microsoft fanboys would realise they're both getting raped by Nintendo and fighting over second place is for dumbtards.

I also wanted to recommend both Destructiod.com and Giantbomb.com for E3 coverage. I like both of these sites style of coverage, little irreverent but still touching all the important things without hyperbole.

Holy crap, Nintendo's Call of Duty: World at War trailer...I'm still laughing my ass off.

Yeah I had erroneously assumed that - like last generation - going with Sony was the only way I'd get my full fix on RPGs. Not only has Final Fantasy crossed the lines but there are a few RPGs that have been XBox exclusives! I'm not disappointed with my purchase, mind you - the PS3 is a pretty excellent system and I do appreciate not having to pay for online service. Still, with the power of hindsight I think I would've gone the other way. Maybe. I don't know, I still chafe at the thought of paying for Live. That's not a dig at XBox - I just generally prefer fixed costs to recurring costs. The whole pay-for-the-game-and-then-keep-paying-for-the-right-to-use-it-properly business model is why I never got into WoW. Call me a miser, I guess. Mostly I'm just poor.

The whole point of online is multiplayer, you more or less need gold, and while it hardly costs anything it does stop people...

I must have gotten some kind of trial when I bought the console.

I have no issue paying for Xbox live gold. While i certainly would prefer it to be free i don't think there's any doubt it's the superior service to PSN. I know Sony just added a ton of stuff with 2.4.1 but there's some basic functionality that's still missing or so i've heard it told on most of the podcasts i've listened to. At the end of the day though the reason i still don't have a PS3 is there's only one truly compelling exclusive (MGS4) and i just can't justify that cost to myself for one game. Anywho, i don't want this to devolve into fanboi vs fanboi they're both excellent systems but they're both being made to look the fool by two gamecubes taped together.

I know, I've been playing online for over a year and I never bought Gold.
As I said before, I must have gotten a really long trial when I bought it...Oh well.

Watching some of the new Too Human stuff right now and it looks even more fantastic than before, just a bit longer, it'll be worth it.
Bungie was planning on announcing something big, but there was a change of plans and it'll be a little while longer before anything is released.
It's a shame, but I'm fine with waiting.

Me... not so much. No reason why, but I do know that I hate the new avatars. Reminds me too much of that Zwinky crap.

And to the FF fanboys. Get over it. It's a fucking game for Christ's sake!

I'm totally meh about the avatars, got no idea what zwinky is... I just like the cleaned up kinda sparse look of the new dashboard. The current one is cramped and shithouse in my opinion, to much digging to find stuff that's relevant to me. I've spent the last two days baiting fanboys on forums for shits and giggles, FF13 on xbox is the gift that keeps on giving. I don't understand why people can't see it simply makes financial sense. The costs of production on that game must be massive and a multiplatform release will stop Square Enix from going broke in the process.

Just an addendum Arcys, it's not Portal 2. It's just a map pack for XBLA.

I'm not sure that Squeenix has ever considered anything outside of Japan to be an important market - they'll make more than enough money there alone, much more than they'll make anywhere else. Realistically, they wouldn't be hurting if they stayed exclusive to Sony. The strategy here is to try and recover some of the old fans that they've lost to other games and bolster their fan base. If I'm reading between the lines correctly, that means they think they have a hell of a game up their sleeves. It's good news for the genre, really: a stronger international fan base will mean Square might be willing to invest in localizing some of their smaller titles. Great news for RPG fans, but I really don't think Square could care less.

I think the underlying issue here is that for many people the commitment from Square to Sony was a fundamental part of their decision to invest in the PS3. Even if it wouldn't have changed your decision, it hurts to know that you made a decision based on bad information (insert snide Iraq comment here). For some, a good RPG is a deeply moving experience - more than "just a game", it's like a classic book or movie. It's something that you hold dear. I've been trying to think of a good analogy for this, but most media don't require you to commit to one distribution channel. I guess it would be like if (a few years ago) your favorite movie director said he would only be making movies for HD-DVD, prompting you to buy an HD-DVD player. Then, when the time came to release his next movie - oops! - he decided he'd support Blu-Ray too after all. Would you have bought the HD-DVD player anyway? Maybe, but that's not the point. It's not a great analogy because we now know that HD-DVD failed and you could have just picked up the movie on DVD anyway, but whatever.

It does point out a bit of curiosity about the decision though. I mean, at this point in the game most people have already picked their franchise and most of the Square diehards have sided with Sony. Does Square really think there's enough of a market in 360 owners to justify releasing on a second platform? It seems like a lot of effort for what I anticipate to be a mediocre response. It's a worthy experiment, though, and I have to give Square credit for finally loosening up a little.

I've never played a JRPG, because most of them have been on a Sony platform. Now that I know of a good JRPG coming to the 360, I might buy it.

I just watched the 360 dashboard video at GameTrailers, and someone on the comments made an excellent point - what happens to all of the themes and gamer pictures we bought?!?

I downloaded and played the Too Human demo last night. Turd Sandwich. Super-generic looking, voice acting is bad, skills and inventory management is unintuitive, and their little "hacking" thing (where you go into another world and open a door, which in the real world....OPENS A DOOR) is just pointless padding. The melee combat is broken and the gun combat is boring. The enemies look like Dog from Half-Life 2. F-

That's disappointing.
I'm downloading the demo now anyway.

I had really hoped that this game would live up to the "3D Diablo" promise that others have failed at before. I still want to give it a spin myself (mostly because I have an intellectual man-crush on Denis Dyack). From your impressions, do you think this could ever get a PC port, like Psychonauts eventually did?

I just finished the Too Human demo. And I'm not sure what I just played. It's like they made an excellent 3d Diablo-In-Space game...then buried it in the backyard and tried to remake the game in two weeks based on memory alone. There is so much potential there, but UGH!! I think that makes it even more frustrating.

Yeah, I liked it up to the opening cinematic. I spent like 6 minutes on the 'Choose your class' screen, figuring out who I'd use in the final version. Then i played it, I liken the experience to wiping your ass with the corner edge of a brick...

Yeah sorry Gearbox folks but so far Borderlands does absolutely nothing for me. 500,000 guns... Putting different textures on a gun does not make it unique and awesome. It makes it a goddamn pain in the arse when i have to manage my inventory and decide if my +5 shotgun of poop flinging is better than my +4 revolver of who gives a shit. Now the Aliens squad based tactical shooter, that's what i want to see more of. As long as they get the sound effects right for the M41A Pulse Rifle, my favourite Sci-Fi gun ever.

I wasn't taking a shot at Eli, Josh or Denise just expressing a concern. As a consumer when i see something promised like half a million guns i get a bit skeptical. Admittedly i'm probably just being an internet jerk cause it's still only in alpha or pre alpha if i remember the video correctly.

I don't know if it'll be any good man, I've played the majority of the Aliens games and they were all just bad. The only one I ever really liked was the original Alien VS. Predator in the arcade. It was so freaking fantastic, an INCREDIBLE side-scrolling beat em' up...

The reason i'm excited for the Aliens game is because gearbox know how to do squad based shooters, Brothers in arms proves that. Then scrap the played out WW2 setting and replace it with colonial marines and aliens and that's pretty much me sold.

The Aliens game is definitely one I'm looking forward two.

By the way, if any of you haven't seen the Call of Duty trailer Nintendo showed during their press conference, go watch it, it's immensely hilarious.
They take an M rated war game and still try to make it look family friendly, and then towards the end the show the wii-mote gun attachment animated into an actual gun. Great job Nintendo!

Why is every single nintendo ad/trailer a group of people sitting around looking like playing the wii is better than sex, that call of duty ad is just stupid.
