As for using the properties, it's not quite so obvious. If you're using the same macros that I downloaded, it expects that you have the properties divided out in some funny ways (for example, Weapon1Attack is not supposed to include Strength bonuses and stuff like that). I stopped worrying about it pretty quickly since I'm not controlling any PCs.

Also, those of you using the source files (instead of the Webstart link) should note there have been a couple new builds since last week. Those builds are primarily upgrades to the macro system so if you have any existing macros you might want to make sure they still work.

I won't be at the game this Sunday, August 10, 2008.

Quiro stops in his tracks. His face pales and takes on a pained look, and his eyes become unfocused. "I have to go back. Zerriksa... she shouldn't be left alone right now." His hands are shaking and his breath is ragged; a sheen of sweat now covers his brow. "Go on without me, guys." He turns, takes a running start, leaps nimbly across the chasm, and continues running without a pause. "I'll catch up with you later," he shouts, his voice fading.

    Giggity.

  • Mike+BradyMike Brady August 2008

That's right. Nothing says "here comes a saucy night" like a halfling priest and an old crone.

  • SeanSean August 2008

Not that there's anything *wrong* with that...

So what's the plan then? Do we soldier on without our cleric, follow him back to tend to the former captive, or see if we run across his "evil twin", who is surprisingly enough not evil at all, has the same powers and experience, but is seemingly controlled by a mysterious other-worldly power?

  • Mike+BradyMike Brady August 2008

I'd say to plan on a 4-man team for this week. How you proceed is up to you.

  • GneekmanGneekman August 2008

So, I had fun last week, but I don't think I'll be able to make this one. My IRL D&D group is probably meeting at that time.
If I am available I'll play, but don't count on me.

  • SeanSean August 2008

Thanks for helping us get through the room of death! Maybe the characters' paths will cross again down the road.

  • GneekmanGneekman August 2008

Yeah, I'll try to show up whenever I can. It's just that this week doesn't look so great at this point...
Although if I could run 2 instances of MapTool I might be able to play 2 games at once... that would be interesting.
    We'll see.

  • Mike+BradyMike Brady August 2008

I'm pretty sure that that's possible, but whether it's appropriate for one's sanity is another question.

  • BillBill August 2008

I may be up to an hour late to today's (2008-08-17) game, but I'll definitely be there.

  • GneekmanGneekman August 2008

I don't think my lack of sanity is in question here.
Fortunately that doesn't really matter, as our DM has not written an adventure for us this week. I will be playing with just you guys.

  • SeanSean August 2008

@Bill - Understandable, since the time Quiro was planning on taking to assist our rescued captive was very rudely interrupted by...you know...cries for help and stuff.
    @Gneekman
    - Awesome! I mean, not awesome that your DM slacked off on you, awesome that we'll have a full boat today!

Also, my Level 2 character is posted here. Password is once again "hijinksensue". The changes are the ability scores, added Improved Initiative feat, Master of Deceit (encounter) utility, switched out Deft Strike (attacks AC, was redundant and weaker than Sly Flourish) for Piercing Strike (attacks REF), plus added campaign notes. The file is mostly for Mike, but whoever is interested, feel free to take a look.

EDIT - fixed a few errors, re-uploaded file, and updated link

  • SeanSean August 2008

Just an amusing little side note about last week's rescue - the Greek letters P and X are frequently used to signify Jesus Christ, and are pronounced "chi rho", which sounds remarkably similar to "Quiro". Very appropriate for last week's savior, don't you think?

  • Mike+BradyMike Brady August 2008

    I like it!

  • MagicladMagiclad August 2008

Heyo. I'm Gneekman's DM for his other game, in 3.5. Just thought I'd pop in and show you the man who steals him away, but is bad at making follow-up and tie-in adventures.

<Bill>Fixed. Make sure you "Format comments as" "Html" next time.</Bill>

  • GneekmanGneekman August 2008

Just as long as you have one for whenever we can play next, you Bastard! XD
No but seriously you should take sometime for that this week in case everyone's free this weekend.

  • SeanSean August 2008

The wife and I will be going to an open house this Sunday at 1, so I may be just a little bit late getting online. I should easily make it by 2:30, but if you have enough to start, don't feel you need to wait for me.

Same here. MapTool says Mike is running Build40, and I had 39, but even getting the new version doesn't seem to be helping.

  • Mike+BradyMike Brady August 2008

It's a disaster - I have no idea what's going on here. I'm going to give it one more shot.

  • Mike+BradyMike Brady August 2008

sorry guys, I think we're going to have to call this one off. My internet connection is dropping left and right.

  • SeanSean August 2008

Looks like our Labor Day weekend game will be my first miss of the campaign. And then following it up the next weekend (7 Sept), I will most likely not be there until 3:30 or so as I have a 2PM meeting scheduled that I am trying to get our chairman to reschedule for earlier in the day. Priorities, right? :-)

  • FlankedFlanked August 2008

"Listen, Mr. CEO. I know our quarterlies are coming up, and we've got to raise the bottom line to cover our overheads. But there's something you gotta understand. On Sundays, I roll. I be rolling 20's."

  • Mike+BradyMike Brady August 2008

Does everyone have Labor Day off? If so I'd propose moving our game to Monday. I won't be able to make it Sunday - having company over - so.. yeah, it might be a little slow without me.

  • SeanSean August 2008

I have to go to a BBQ on Monday at 1, so unless we want to start at 10AM (any takers? No? Thought so.), I'll have to pass on that too.

Long story short, here are my events for the days spanning 8/30-9/9
Labor Day weekend BBQ, Labor Day BBQ, commentary for a wrestling DVD, three demos at three different hospitals, meeting to discuss staffing and training, wife's birthday, mother's birthday, mother-in-law's birthday, in-laws' anniversary, my birthday. I think that's it.

The next weekend is Avenue Q and my ring announcer gig though, so that makes up for it. :-)

  • FlankedFlanked August 2008

Extended rest. We all regain our action points and hit points and healing surges and powers. That is, us, actual people, not our characters.

Is it okay to ask DnD questions in here or should there be another topic for it?

  • SeanSean September 2008

This one tends to be about the one specific group of 6 or so that play every week together. There is a more general DnD thread here that would probably be the better spot to ask questions in. One of us will probably be the person answering anyway, but keeping it separate helps with the housekeeping.

Forgot to ask before I left - our death penalty fades after the third milestone. How close are we to that? And was it decided that I am taking the gloves, or not yet?

You've reached 2 milestones, so just one more. And the consensus did seem to be that you were taking the gloves.

Did we find an implement? I had to take my headphones off, so I didn't hear anything, but I noticed some text about one in my chat window as I was closing out MapTool. I ask because I have a few implement spells....

  • SeanSean September 2008

We found gloves of piercing, which is in the PHB (which I do not have in front of me right now). If I remember correctly, it can be activated once daily as a free action, and will ignore 10 points of enemy damage resistance for that encounter. Because I can only deal physical damage, and pretty much everyone else has at least one other damage type, I'll have the gloves with me in case we run across physically-resistant enemies. One of our tanks is holding a +1 symbol of battle as well. The other has an ironskin belt. I don't remember what either one's powers are though.

Yeah Rhyd'Ley's carrying a +1 Symbol of Battle that they found the week you sat out. He doesn't yet have any implement-based powers, though.

My play schedule for the next few weeks:

2008-09-14: Have to leave by 4:30 PM CDT

    2008-09-21: Not available to play

    2008-09-28: Not available to play

    2008-10-05: The cleric's heroic return

Mike, I'll send you my updated character sheet and token after our 2008-09-14 game.

Wife just sprung a project on me. Won't be on until 2:30-3:00. Apologies.

  • FlankedFlanked September 2008

To add to the list of apologies, I have a late notice one; homework has piled up, and it unfortunately comes before D&D. Sadly, I won't be able to join the game today.

If someone wants to run my character, feel free. Again, sorry about the late notice.

  • FrackTruckFrackTruck September 2008

    I am a bad man :(

I had a relatively sudden trip spring up on me and in my fervor to get underway forgot to post about my absence :(

  • SeanSean September 2008

Seems to have been an epidemic of "real life" this week! Well, taking inspiration from Bill, here is my upcoming schedule:
    9/21 - OK
    9/28 and 10/5 - ?

On the weekend of the 28th, I have a bachelor party to attend in Atlantic City (oh the sacrifices I make for my friends...hehe). Checkout on Sunday is 11, and I'm 2-1/2 hours away from AC, so if the festivities don't spill over into Sunday, I *should* be OK, but who knows what kind of condition I will be in.
Then on the 5th, I have a similar weekend. A wedding on the 4th (different couple), checkout at noon on the 5th, 3 hour drive from Lancaster PA back home.

Unfortunately, it looks like both of these will be "game-time decisions", although I have a lot more control over when I come home from the bachelor party on the 28th than I do over whether or not we spend any time with the new couple on the 5th. Twitter shall be my messenger.

  • FlankedFlanked September 2008

Yeah, I apologize again for the late notice on missing. On the plus side, you can check out the Perl program I wrote as an assignment: http://www.orbitfiles.com/download/id3270907416.html

    Password is "hijinksensue"

Note: You may need Perl ... um, installed on your machine to run it, so it may be not nearly cool enough to be proud of, but I still am. If you want Perl on your machine, lemme know and I'll get you started.
