Does anybody else think the time has come to produce a HE wikipedia entry?
I'll give it a go, if everybodies ok with that, but I doubt I'll be able to do it myself so I'm hoping the other FB will help out once I've got it started.
It'll be my first try at this so it'll be interesting to see how it goes.
Ooooh! Do it now! Do it nine times!
Posted By: photozzI once heard that Hijinksensue is entirely responsible for the significant decline in the hetero penguin population. I have included a chart for the wiki.

I've put the basics up this morning, I'm at work at the moment so can't put any more time into it.
Have at it you fancy bastards.
I did think about putting more background information in there for the real life Josh, Eli and Denise but I wasn't sure how much of a connection they wanted between HE and real life i.e. gearbox, etc.
BTW please don't hate me for the tongue in cheek character descriptions.

Posted By: lardboyAnybody know who Bhaelochon is. They've renamed and redirected my original entry.

I did that, because it was misspelled. ;)
Also—someonedoesn't like the article being on Wikipedia at all, as it might not meetnotabilityrequirements. So everyone get to editing! It'd be a shame if the article was deleted less than a day after it was created."Never hold your farts in. They travel up your spine and into your brain, and that's where you get shitty ideas from." - Unknown
PS, I would actually put some real character descriptions in there if we dont want the article deleted immediately.
If only there was a place where hundreds of people could go to request that HE be added to Wikipedia....
Posted By: lardboyand its gone.
I have to admit to being kinda bummed about this I tried to make a contribution, tried to start an interesting little project and they fucked me over.
Fuck wikipedia.
yeah "notable" in this case means HE isn't notable enough to deserve an entry on a publicly edited online encyclopedia. Mind you, this is a world where "not notable" means the guy deleting it hasn't heard of HE.
800,000 page views a month CAN be wrong!
I've been thinking about an HE wiki page for quite a while, and I know I'd do my part. In a related story, I tried to add HijiNKS Ensue to the Internet recognition section of Undefeatable's entry back when the Shitty Movie Challenge was first starting, but in a related ending some douche deleted it in under 24 hours.
Posted By: photozzIts a little bizarre. XKCD and Order of the stick both have pages, but penny-arcade does not... what hell.
Goddammit, I think we need to devise some way to reach a wider audience. Maybe have as many FB's as possible recommend HE to Joystiq for the weekly webcomics do? I really think that if people read the comic they'll get right into it. I've wasted a lot of time on webcomics, enough to recognise which ones are a waste of my wasted time and HE is one of the best written comics I read (I only regularly read HE and Penny Arcade) and is genuinely worth reading every update. I don't know, something should be done though...
For the joystiq spamming to work we need a video game relevant comic so we can all post the same link to comments on this post.

Looks like another FB has made an attempt at an HE Wikipedia entry:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hijinks_Ensue_%28comic%29
It would probably help it NOT get deleted right away if a few of you started editing it and adding info. Since there is already so much info on the HE wikia page I thought that would be a good place to start. If you helped create the Wikia page maybe you wouldnt mind importing some of that info to the wikipedia page in hopes of keeping it alive.
Thanks!

Hmm, I'm a bit annoyed that they named it Hijinks Ensue (comic), and not simply HijiNKS ENSUE. Either way, I'm going to start by adding some images and information to try to make it more legit. I also think that the more we connect this Wikipedia page to other established entities, the better chance it won't get deleted. I'm going to start by trying to link all of Joel's guest comics he's done for other people, as well as mention specifically the Edward James Olmos shirt. I will also mention the podcast cast connections between HijiNKS ENSUE and Gearbox Software or Dallas Observer.
Anyone know of any other big established entities that we can link to HijiNKS ENSUE.
EDIT:
I've done what I can for now. I tried to add this image: [[File:Hijinks-ensue-godspeed-you-fancy-bastard-book-300x300.jpg]] but it ended up stretching out the page. Anyone with more Wikipedia voodoo, feel free to fix that.

Well, good luck guys. In this case notability is usually based on whether there are any independent, trustworthy, secondary sources about the topic. So they can list every fucking episode of Star Trek: The Animated Series, or the 493 distinct types of Pokémon, or the 1600th person in the line of succession to the British throne, but like Joel said, 800,000 page views don't mean squat to them. Short of getting the local newspaper to write an article about Hijinks Ensue (never mind the fact that newspapers probably don't want to make it common knowledge that you can get comics somewhere other than inside their pages), I don't know how you're going to satisfy those editors.
Damnit. They've gotten super strict about the copyright crap with their images. I tried to upload an image of the book, using HijiNKS ENSUE as the source. However, they rejected it since there wasn't clear evidence that Joel had given permission to use the image. Anyone have any idea what Wikipedia needs for that?
A CC (creative commons) license on the image would probably be all they need. Joel would have to do that, though.
Hmm... so i need to modify the actual image?
If they want credability you could link to any interviews that Ive done on other sites. You can probably find them by googling "joel watson hijinks ensue interview, etc".
I would encourage you guys to keep adding to it and editing it so that over time its actually a good resource for new readers looking for info on the comic.
Thanks!

The old page that got deleted was called "HijiNKS Ensue". I believe that's why the new one had to have "(comic)" at the end. The old one could potentially be restored and both of them merged, but I might be making that up.
they've already flagged the article for deletion unless "secondary sources are cited." If anyone knows what they are looking for, please feel free to edit and provide the info. It might help to use facts or quotes that I have provided in articles/interviews on other websites.

Some ideas for improving the article:
Geekdad on Wired.com listed HE as a "top 10 comics to NOT share with your kids".
You could also list the guest comics ive done for other artists.
The experiment might deserve a paragraph.
Wil Wheaton linked to a comic once .
JoCo linked to a comic I did about him.
The guy that created "Leverage" link to a comic http://kfmonkey.blogspot.com/2009/05/why-hijinks-do-ensue.html
http://kfmonkey.blogspot.com/2009/01/ephemera-2009-5.html
lots of high profile blogs linked the "Doug Morries Music Industry" comic.
still digging for more.
I remember I won the joystiq weekly webcomic contest at least once beating out Penny Arcade.
heres that wired article
http://blog.wired.com/geekdad/2008/08/10-geeky-webcom.html
Joystiq links:
9/18/2007: 2nd place for Westwood College
10/16/2007: 3rd place for Wii-Mo
12/18/2007: 3rd place for Rock Band
7/1/2008: 1st place for The Inevitable Conclusion
8/6/2008: 3rd place for Scared Straight
I think those are all the accolades, though there were probably one or two more where HE [sacrilegiously!] didn't place.
The thing about the Webcomic poll is, does that really count as a source for Wikipedia? I would think they're too stuffy for it.
That's the same thing for when celebrities comment or link to the comic in Twitter. Does that really count as a source?
The Wired article is probably good though, I'll add that when I get home.
It looks like the "deletion imminent" warning has been removed. Im not 100% positive but I think you guys did it! If anyone wants to make a pet project to add to and maintain the article I am all for it. I need to figure out what I need to do so you can easily add images. Maybe a characters section would be helpful.
