Here's the deal. I'm going to offer sponsorships of the site and podcast to specific advertisers. I'm creating a media kit to send to them and I need your quotes to put throughout the literature.

What kind of quotes? You are right to ask such a question.

Did the comic, blog or podcast ever turn you on to a new product, franchise or media? Did something you learned from HE help you make a decision with regard to products and services that you now use and love? Think, people, THINK! This is very important. I need to show potential advertisers that HE is the summit of Geek Mountain and that it can provide them with a wealth of geeks for which to pedal their wares.

Please submit your quote as a reply to this post. I need you know what HE taught you, sold you, etc, your first name and what you do (job, student, etc).

    For example:

"After hearing about Battlestar on the HE podcast I went out and bought all 4 seasons on DVD! Now I look to HE for all my geek TV recommendations.
    Jim - IT Specialist"

The quotes should all be positive. Nothing like "HE said bluehost.com sucked so I know I will never use them!" More like "When I needed hosting for my website I turned to the HE forum to find out who geeks in the know were using.
    Tom - Student"

Get the idea? I do ask that your quotes be truthful. Feel free to get creative and post as many as you like. I will probably only be able to use a few anyway so the more I have to choose from the better.

Just a side note, the experiment is fading fast. Sponsorships would go a long way in helping me to keep HE up and running. If you know of any companies or services that would be good candidates, feel free to post here or email me. If YOU have a company or a personal connection to a company that might be interested let's talk. The rates are EXTREMELY reasonable for what I am offering.

A brief rundown of what a sponsor will get for a 1 week sponsorship:

    • A banner directly next to the comics and next to the content on every other page of HE for that week above the fold

    • A mention at the beginning and end of that weeks podcast with an interstitial ad in the middle

    • The ability to target a special offer to HE readers and Podcast listeners

    • A Banner in the HE RSS feed

    • 1 Blog Post during the week written by me

    • Big discounts for purchasing multiple weeks

    Thanks for your help guys!

    -Joel

The HijiNKS Ensue homepage is my second most visited page, surpassed only by Google.com because it's my homepage. Between the podcast, blog, and comics, I've been turned on to more shows, bands, etc. than I could conceivably list. Even things I already geeked over, I was motivated to revisit again and again. The entire site epitomizes a personal and friendly experience.

HijiNKS Ensue entertains me with it's wry, witty, sometimes completely crazy comics and inspires me to dream as I follow Joel's quest to gain financial independence while doing what he loves.

Ok that was an admittedly lame joke, my real quote will be...

HijiNKS Ensue is my number one source for entertainment recommendations and much needed thrice weekly hilarity.

You know, I had a whole joke post here about how Joel is like a facehugger, only instead of raping my face and depositing young, he consensually makes love to my ears weekly and drops tons of awesome and win.

Maybe I can turn that into something. Seriously, it had a rape joke (and the actual word) in it, as well as comparing any week where I don't get my HE fix to chestbursting aliens.

Also, something I've mentioned to Joel lately is that the podcast has permeated my life off the internet. Two or three of my friends listen to the cast, since I got them on it, so it's a bit meta that we're quoting people on their opinions of shows and movies we've seen. I've been unable to get the image of the Mr. Holland's Opus shark out of my head during Music Theory class, constantly giggling regarding sharks in Vietnam and Lieutenant Dan's "magic fins". I make half-assed attempts to be a voice actor, since Joel brings about so much comedy with it (I still say "21 and legal! Going to the titty bar!" from episode 21. Love that bit.)

HijiNKS Ensue is the first web comic I found intelligent and insightful enough to actual want to join their community. It has also inspired me and my better half to start our own comic. Joel's courage in attempting to make a living through his art is an inspiration to anyone who has ever dreamed of enjoying their job.

I've lost track of the number of DVDs I've bought after hearing them discussed on the HE podcast and comic. It's a more reliable source than most of my friends.
    -Patrick, UI Designer.

Also, Joel - I would have happily purchased these things through an Amazon affiliate link and kicked you back a couple bucks. If you started an HE "Book" Club (for DVDs) on the podcast, with an Amazon affiliate link, you'd rake in some serious cash and have a kick ass segment. You could announce the next week's thing on the podcast, put up a quick link on the HE page, and let the Fancy Bastards feed at the trough. Then you discuss it on the following podcast. You could even design an Oprah-style book club sticker with Josh tongue-rimming an optical disc.

My dick exploded due to sheer awesomeness the first time I heard a HijiNKS Ensue podcast. Joel, Eli, and Josh's magical voices then regenerated said exploded dick making it even better in the process.

Hijinks Ensue is my No.1 source for geek culture. Between the comics, podcasts and general awesomeness, I barely have time to procrastinate.

I laughed, I cried, I googled the word Josh used and threw up a little, then I went out and bought 8 DVDs.

Hijinks Ensue is virtually bursting with adequatulence!

Hijinks Ensue haunts my dreams - in the good way.

(and now for a slightly less sarcastic one)

Based on their recommendations alone, I've picked up easily a dozen DVDs not to mention new TV shows.

    Hope it helps some.

Hijinks Ensue - As recommended by actual, British people (with the funky teeth and everything)!

Or more seriously, Hijinks is the funniest three hours of my week. It's a major source of info and gossip on all aspects of geek culture - comics, tv, gaming and the interwebs.

Wasn't that interested in seeing The Dark Knight - but the Hijinks podcast persuaded me to go see. And it was a thing of joy.

    Best of luck, Joel.

Hijinks Ensue is an amazing movement, between the comic, the podcast/castcast, and the community. It has led me down delicious paths of geekery, which include Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog, Fringe, and Johnathan Coulton. It's probably the only place left on the Internet that isn't a social network or smut peddler...yet.

The Podcast, along with the comic and forum, is absolutely wonderful. It not only entertains, but challenges the mind. The various aspects of the HE have turned me on to things I'd until recently been oblivious too. It's helped shape my views on culture, as well as revel in nostalgia ( HE Podcast 15 ). I easily would, and have in the past, recommend this to anyone. I can wish only the best for Joel, as he deserves the success he clearly works hard for.

I can't say that I have any purchases driven by HE yet, as I've only been a reader/listener for a couple weeks. The Book Club is likely to drive some purchases. I do think the idea of the Amazon partnership thing is great if it's something they'd let you get involved with. I buy quite a bit of stuff from them yearly (at least enough to make an Amazon Prime membership actually worth it to me) and would love to be able to get you some kickbacks on those purchases.

I'd also think that somewhere like ThinkGeek.com would have fun stuff that folks that enjoy your offerings would like.

After seeing Joel's preview picture for the podcast:

Share photos on twitter with Twitpic

I think we should try to come up with a new motto for the podcast too. I'm not sure if the last one was something like The Podcast By Geeks, For Geeks, with 4 Geeks, but why not update it.

    Proposed quotes:

The guys who said a thing about dicks
Grab my balls if you want to live
The only podcast that can mention Star Trek, Reading Rainbow, and Racism all in 2 minutes. reference
Tired of podcasts that eventually devolve into dick jokes and giggling? Don't worry, this podcast starts with dick jokes.

    Any new ideas for slogans?

HijiNKS Ensue is a invaluable asset to my daily routine, in both entertainment, and product valuation. It provides me with accurate user-based information about products, and events in a fashion that I enjoy. HijiNKS Ensue's podcast, in addition to its preset forum-based community, enables a high-level of social bookmarking to occur, resulting in a higher dispersion of information concerning related products to be passed on. I, personally, have purchased several, highly valued, series of television shows, in addition to other items, at the recommendation of HijiNKS Ensue, and, based on previous results, hold their opinion in high regard.
