So I'm going to start a webcomic.
Yes, yes, I know I said that last summer, but I think I got through seven of those one-panel things before I had to scrape for ideas, and even then not many of the ones I had sketched out were really any good.
This current project was inspired by an interview I heard with Rick Remender, where he mentioned if one were to do one page a week for a year, he could have two issues of a series done. I instead decided to run with that 1-page-per-week formula and create Peculiar Comics, a weekly one-page comic story.
I love superhero comics. That said, this project is also an experiment in multiverse-building. I want to create my own comic multiverse, full of impossible heroes and villains, only to be able to fuck it all up in a giant crisis and start all over again. I want to be a one-man factory of the weekly Wednesday mainstream crack, only with the freedom to do and say what I please in my multiverse, free from sales statistics and censors.
Here's the first page. I'm going to wait until I have eight to nine pages built up before I launch, just so I have a few to fall back on if I wind up busy.
Concerns, criticisms, and kangaroos welcome and appreciated.

I love it, especially the great variety you expressed in a single page with it still making sense. Only slight criticism is the word balloons from "It starts with-" to "-we're boned" were kind of hard to read. I'm more of a left to right person than an up to down person, so I interpreted everything below "a crisis of sorts" as a third panel section.

That's for the feedback, everyone. I've got about three more I'm going to finish up and post here before I start the website up. Then everything will be out on Wednesdays (with the possibility of a "Friday Backup Feature Podcast", where my roommate and I bullshit about comics for half an hour).

So I had applied for a grant through my school to get money for hosting and a domain name and all that jazz, but alas, it did not come through.
Are there any suggestions for doing this for free? Should I use WordPress or Blogspot or Livejournal? Anything else I should know? I wanna get this up and running by Wednesday to coincide with new comic day.
any free blogging site would do the trick. Wordpress.com would actually let you export your info later to a full hosted Wordpress installation. You might have to host your images at Flickr though since they do have a cap of some kind.

I signed up for an ImageShack for image hosting purposes.
How do I work my account with the Wordpress program? I tried to install it, but some of the instructions in regards to databases and such are lost on me (I haven't played with databases and SQL since sophomore year of highschool...but I doubt that's what they're referring to?).
Much thanks!

First one, assuming I don't get hit by a bus or something, should be up Wednesday.
And we're live.
Thanks for the support, everyone!
