GURPS: In Nomine
  • nashoba143nashoba143 November 2008

I have the corebook for gurps: in nomine and have never met anyone who has actually played gurps. Does anyone know anything about this rpg?

Wheaton's long been a singer of its virtues, and I've been meaning to look into it a bit and maybe play a few games. I downloaded the free basic rules, and I like the concept. It's kind of petty of me, but I really don't like their house art; it looks really unrealistic, and like it was drawn in the eighties (hey, maybe it was). It's made it hard for me to get into the imaginative spirit, with all that (in my opinion) unimaginative art. I guess I should just get over it and play the damned game.

I think I need to find the basic rules. There isn't anything in the book really to get a person started if that's all they have. I did like the idea of an absent god.

All I know of GURPS is that it's a generic (meaning can fit all genres) roleplaying system and that it was going to be the background ruleset for Fallout before they ended up changing it at the last stages of development. I've played with the HERO system before, and just from what's been described to me it sounds fairly similar. Is "In Nomine" a specific setting or genre?

It's a war setting between heaven and hell, playing angels or demons of various ranks and furthering the goals of your demonic superior on earth.

  • In nomine is a sweet setting but the mechainics are a little clunky. The origional version anyway, I never played the gurps versions.
