Hmm, I'd think a podcast culled for a theme would be nigh incomprehensible. How many times does the Cast Crew refer to something in the podcast itself? But I might be wrong.
Alls I know is I remember the "cursing montage" from an early ep, and I'd figure there would be a lot of "the spicy" in a racist episode.
edit: they could even have some Niki from that one podcast where Denise's sister sat in and spoke "all in pops and clicks" -
Right, so what themes should I do?
Racism (All the horrible things you can possibly say, including anti gay and misogynistic stuff)
Story time (various stories the cast and crew have, including legends like The Mad Shitter)
Voices (Different imitations Joel, Eli, and Josh do, including Tree Beard & Cloverfield, Gay Lord of the Rings, Terminator Tax, etc. (P.S. I would put Musicals in here too))
Sex (This would be a combination of the weird sex stories Joel finds on the internet and whatever random questions the viewers ask about sex)
Movie Review (Cobble together the reviews of different movies that the crew has watched. We can do everything from the good (Dark Knight) to the hilariously shitty (Lightspeed))
Con Stories (A subset of story time, all of Eli's different stories from the cons he goes to)
I could do a Star Trek or Star Wars themed podcast as well, but it'd be very random. Clips would range from con reports, to movies, to internet stories, to just randomly coming up.
There's still a ton of clips that don't really fall into any specific category, not sure. Suggestions? -

Re: the "best of" I would love to see a 60-90 ep of best of eps in chrono order. Like Best of eps 1-10 etc. It would be neat to post those in a series during the middle of the week. Speaking of, our soundcard is still in the shop and we arent doing a new ep until its fixed. Not sure if that will be a few days or much more. If you get the first one done this week I will post it.
I wouldnt bother with themed eps, personally. I think a chronological retrospective would be a good way to introduce the show to new listeners. I see. So you aren't planning to use these to fill in gaps of when the podcast isn't there, so much as use them to introduce people to the podcast. And yeah, I've snipped your transition noise you use in Episode 2 and Episode 7 (Lunch-casts) for my own use.
The reason I wanted to do Ep 1-7 rather than 1-10 is simply to try to make it last longer. I'll start work on The best of Ep 1-10 today, however, know that as we go along the episodes, they get longer, and thus have more moments. Not sure I'll be able to fit all the best.
One more detail. If I'm doing them chronologically, is it important to include things like background information (for instance your story on how the podcast got started, and how the site got started from Ep 9) or should I keep it only to the fun stuff.
One mooore thing (Uncle voice), do you think it's wise for me to try to introduce each clip, or should I just let the people dive in. I have a microphone, but of low quality. I don't think it's good enough to compare to the podcast.

Hmm... probably should have waited for your response. I'm done. I have two versions, one that's Ep 1-7 that is under 90 minutes, and another that's Ep 1-10 that goes to two hours. The intro is just a combination of different openings and the word remix, feel free to record over that, as the intro doesn't actually explain what a remix is. I'll be emailing both versions, first in .wav and then in .mp3 because I have no idea what you need.

The only way I have any clips now is by playing the podcast next to my microphone (horrible quality). Does anyone know any software to capture audio playing on your computer. I figure I just play the entire podcast on my computer, use that software to record it (turn off twitter and such to make sure no other noise happens), and I finally have something to work with.

Problem solved!
Open the file in Audacity. Click on the "file name" right next to the "X" on the upper left area of the track and select "Split Stero Track."

Why do you guys like the Board Games clip so much? I get an email every time any clip is downloaded. Usually people just listen, and there are sporadic downloads. But that Board Games clip has been downloaded about 8 times, once it was downloaded 4 times in the space of an hour. Is there any particular reason you guys like that clip? -

I'm trying to figure out if we can narrow down all of the different clips and moments from the podcast can be narrowed down to about 3-5 clips to make it easier for Joel to make a Podcast page with clips.
The tagline of the podcast is: Your Weekly Source of Geek News from TV, Movies, Comics and the Internet. I'm not sure if it would be best to try to grab one clip to represent each of those four things. I'm not even sure if it matters, considering how the funniest clips just go off on crazy tangents that have nothing specifically to do with any real subject. I'm also not sure if I should include some of the more offensive clips. Either way, here's my suggestion of the best clips (still have to pair it down to just 3-5).

Ep 3. The Mad Shitter - Shit Baby - Possibly the most offensive clip that doesn't involve racism or retards.

It's on Hiatus while Joel concentrates on getting the first HijiNKS ENSUE book out. Considering that he's getting the first few prints in now for inspection, I wouldn't be surprised if you'll hear more about the podcast in a week or two.
Until then, listen to some of the older ones, listen to the clips, or get access to the Vault and listen to the post shows. -

creating segments also helps draw new listeners, since it's alot easier to tell someone to listen to a clip on youtube than to subscribe to a podcast via iTunes, DL an epsiode, and listen. Speaking from experience, at least.

BLAAAAAAAAAAAARGH
I've been trying to catch up on the podcast clips, but I'm having my usual insane problems.
I first did the typed up the Time Stamps while watching the thing play in Audacity. However, right at the end I accidentally hit the power button on my PC with my knee, and it went away. So, fuck.
I try again, this time using VLC to do it and writing it on paper. Surely that's fireproof right? Well after a while I noticed that the timestamps were different from the first time I did it. I found out that skipping ahead in VLC causes the time stamp to be off. By the time I got an hour in I was 15 minutes off of the true time.
FUUUUUUUUUCK
I'm taking a break, then I'm going to try to do it a third time. If I fail that time then I would GLADLY take suggestions on what the most reliable way to do this is. I'm getting tired of this.

Done. May I say I loathe the 45 minutes from 0:30:00 to 1:15:00 in Episode 63. I'm not much of a television or movie watcher, and in that time the cast mentions dozens and dozens of movies, tv shows, actors, and everything under the sun. I swear there were some moments where two different conversations were happening at once and I had to figure out what the heck they were talking about. Blargh.

I've been re-listening to the older podcasts lately (just hit #17), and it's really interesting listening to the cast talk about from-their-perspective upcoming geekery! Dollhouse, Lost, Fringe, etc. IThe juxtapositioning of pre- & post-event opinions is always good for a laugh... for instance, going back and contrasting Joel's shit-talking about JJ Abrams is HI LARIOUS :D
