So apparently this show is already airing in Canada, and I happened to stumble across it...somewhere..that rhymes with "blue-boob".Anyway,I have watched through episode 5 and its seriously AMAZING! I recommend it to all FBs.

What? Now I'm just confused. Tubeing the Googles now...

  • DuderDuder January 2009

I hadn't even heard of this! Reminded me of my childhood watching the 90's reboot. Just watched it through to ep 12.

    Excellent recommendation

I heard about this show before it came out but was skeptical since I wasn't a fan of X-men: Evolution. It is fantastic, the animation is nice and I love the voice acting, Steven Blum does a great job as Wolverine. Highly recommended to any X-men fan.

    @Duder-Thanks!

    @Mutant
Enemy-I actually recently watched the first couple seasons of X-Men evolution through Netflix, and while I enjoyed it, it wasn't nearly on a par with the 90's series (which holds a very special place in my heart).

This incarnation, IMO, is somewhere between Evolution and the 90's series...but closer to 90's level of awesomeness.

I believe you're looking for this.

... and you thought I was going for a Mystique reference. Too easy.

Wow... what an idiot. What a big blue boob.

Oh god... I forgot how good that recurring joke was.

On a completely unrelated note, seriously considering the downloading of W&TX. I am somewhat put off from what looks like lackluster art in the preview images I keep coming across. I'm sure I've got the wrong idea entirely, but nonetheless it's making me wary.

Not a fan. I just finished the first episode, and I was ready to write my review literally after 50 seconds, but I gave it the whole chance. The animation is wood-like, which wouldn't bother me so much if it wasn't completely ineffective in relaying one clusterfuck of a first episode. So much happened! If I was a kid I'd be confused as hell, and even though I can understand it, it's effectively put the shark before the horse. Boing. There were about nine sub-plots going on, six of which were only for a few seconds and contributed nothing to the episode's story, confusing the hell out of the viewer. Because the visual tone changed at no point during the entire 22 minutes, it was nearly impossible to discern a flashback from a premonition, neither of which was a good choice plot-wise. There was a season's worth of content in that episode, and as a result none of it felt like it mattered. I keep trying to write the writing off as "for kids" so I don't judge it too harshly, but there's no way a kid could follow that. To come close, you have to have a pretty decent knowledge of the X-Men to begin with, but they're also introducing trendy new characters which probably won't resonate with people who know the story at all, and the classic characters feel like shadows of themselves. Wolverine isn't tortured, he never emotes (you really have to type in all caps to get these animators to make people emote apparently) and he's smiling jovially about 3/4 of the time. Beast's pacifist ethics are presented and then shrugged of nonchalantly after about five minutes. He does not stop smiling for a SECOND, even when he shrugs off the aforementioned pacifism. Professor X did not get a speaking part, and of course he was smiling in his one scene. Rogue is lifted directly from the movies, and doesn't seem necessary at all. She also has a bit part where she guilts Logan into thinking he's a bad friend. His smile fades for a nanosecond, and then he goes back to good ol' Logan. Storm has a weird super straight hair fro the size of a child, which isn't really bad but what's up with that? Logan mentions Magneto ONCE in such a casual way you almost miss it. He also acts like a complete saint, saving a child and then being all friendly with her, but then smirks when he tortures (brutally) and traps people.

I really have to blame the animation for a lot of my dislike. Like I said before, I don't give a shit how well it's drawn as long as it tells the story right, but the timing was so off it was almost unbearable. The script was written as a 13 year old fanboy's pipe dream, and offered very little. It was very much "and then there's an explosion, and Logan is all cool, and then he's like, 'I don't think so Bub' and slices all the guns in the world in half, and then there's more guns, and then another explosion, and then feelings, and then different feelings, and then a helicopter, and then it takes off, and then Logan looks at the guy on the ground and FLIPS HIM OFF and shoots him in the nuts, and then joins the clergy, and then shoots the abbot in the nuts, and then--"
    yeah.

    (I can't seem to stop)

The following characters were in the episode for under thirty seconds:
    Jean Grey
    Cyclops
    Prof. X
    Angel
Pyro (possibly with a different name)
Sentinel. Just one. Wasn't explained. Also Wolverine cuts his 8' Diameter Head off with 8" claws, but I guess we're used to that.

It was very much a fanboy script, dumbed down for kids but without removing what felt like dozens of truly unnecessary scenes or plot points, making it extremely inaccessible. It tried too hard to be good for you to enjoy its badness.

There was a new and exciting plot point every thirty seconds, and maybe two of them were paid attention to after their entrance. The writers seemed to think that when you write "Wolverine has a flashback" on a page the audience automatically knows it. Didn't make sense until the end of the episode, and for the wrong reasons: you had to figure out something they assumed was evident the second it happened.

Pros: It IS X-men. They're all there. Same powers. Wolverine has a motorcycle. Given a chance, Cyclops would probably be a dick. Jean Grey seems like an indecisive whore. All there. If you're hungry enough for the characters you can go ahead and give it a try, but I really don't recommend you go into it looking for a compelling narrative at all. Expect to be confused, and mostly just by the animation.

Edit: Oh, and the last half of the episode was Logan and Beast in a buddy cop movie. Black and Blue (now that I think of it, he does have a lot in common with George Washington Carver). The ending set that up to continue. Woo. One real power between them.

    Question:
Where can I find a Torrent? I don't get Teletoon anymore.

PS: I'm a Canuck (Yes you can say that), I'm just gonna point that out.
PPS: That was a 30 Rock reference

We know not what torrents are, and if we did we would surely never admit it, for that would reflect poorly on the legal entity of HijiNKS Ensue. If an unscrupulous person was looking for one, I'm certain they would be sorely disappointed in the results of a search on NOTpirateNOTbay.NOTorg.
(Generally speaking we don't yak much about torrents and such around here, because text is searchable)

No no, that doesn't sound right. I mean I know it's OK for you to call yourselves that, but there must be some term that we can use.

I have NOT found a Torrent that work 100% Perfect.
NOTpirateNOTbay.NOTorg did NOT work at all.
    I forgot about NOTpirateNOTbay.NOTorg
Normally I use NOTmininova and NOT an invite only service.
