The book club will be called "But Don't Take My Word For It!" complete with *dunna DUN!*

  • joeljoel January 2009

JustChristine has struck a nerve. The most prominent library in the geek world is smack dab on top of the hellmouth. Lets play with that.

My votes are Giles/Library/Hellmouth reference, TNG reference, or Reading Rainbow reference.

Of course we also all know books are full of terrible, evil secrets of Elder Gods or Ancient Vampires or other stuff like that... Some reference to such could also be amusing. I can't help but picture in my mind a whole pile of geeks sifting through the libraries at Miskatonic University to choose reading materials for the month... Some thinking "gee book club sounds fun!" Others, with more sinister intent, "These fools will help me unlock the hidden incantations to summon . Mwahahahaha *cough*"

    Musta. Krakish. Musta. Krakish.

My brain keeps wanting to make an Enders Game reference, but I can't think of anything that fits. Maybe it's all for the better seeings that Card is a bigoted asshole.

The first thing that comes to mind is a playground that's been over run by wolves, but I'm not sure that could be translated into the name of book club.

What's the quote from Joel's guest comic at Unshelved? "Book Engage!"

Yes, he is welcome. Its a compliment. My brainplace was also 'sploded.

    @Joel
-I'm all for calling it "The Sunnydale Library", or possibly "Hellmouth Booksplode".

ok, on levels of self-reference and overall geekery, these seem to be good contenders:

    Advanced Bastards
    Reading Rainbow Coalition
    Anachronistic Intarwebz
    Bookery for Beginners
    Hellmouth Booksplosion

anyone want to nominate anything else? we should probably start voting on these to get this baby rolling.

Reading Rainbow Coalition makes me chuckle, I think I like it the best.

Bad news. The poll extension for Vanilla doesnt work. seems like you have all picked "The Reading Rainbow Coalition" and I think thats pretty dope. Going to have to find an alternate way to vote on stuff.

Sure, let's just say we're a bunch of guys of various ages who spend way too much time on a forum and love to read. We've created a special force of learning called the Reading Rainbow Coalition, and we're wondering if his majesty will bless our union and maybe join our ranks, that we may thrive and bring the black wisdom wine to the lips of all offspring here and hence.
