Welcome, weary wandering reader! Stay awhile, put up your feet, and let's speak snootily about books.
I am currently bashing my Macbook with a bottle of Miller Lite (cheaper than champagne) on this maiden voyage of the Reading Rainbow Coalition. Huzzah!
We'll keep this pretty simple. Every month we'll pick a book out of five or six options. I'd like to have at least one representation from each genre: sci fi, fantasy, horror, graphic novel. Horror isn't geeky per se, I suppose, so that can be a toss-up, depending on what the Mob (being you, dear reader) decides.
We'll keep the thread going for about 4-6 weeks, depending on the size of the book. We can even set milestones if you guys want so that we can be on the same page, so to speak (heh). For example: get to chapter 6 by the end of the first week so that we can discuss without worrying about spoiling it for anyone. I don't want this to feel like an English class reading assignment though so if that is not cool with everyone then we won't do it.
There have already been a few good suggestions for the first book. I'll sort through them and post the poll this weekend. Since it will be the first book, I might throw in more than 5 options.
Again, thanks for your enthusiasm and support of HE's very first geeky reading society!
Would it be easier to do all this over at the Goodreads group? It has polls, discussion, and other nick nacks. Just a thought.

Posted By: DramSweet. We're going to turn those pages so hard. We're going to press those letters against the walls and make them scream.Beastiality. I dunno.

I have no artistic talent whatsoever, but I wonder if someone would be so kind as to draw us up a logo for the Goodreads group. It needs to be a big-ish image with a 3:4 ratio, as it'll be displayed in several places at 111x148, 75x100, etc.
It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
