Posted By: John DarcJust a mention of it, right? I thought transcripts of "premium material" was off limits.Move over, bananas! I've got a new source of potassium!
I think I should combine the podcast highlights into a FAP-Q (Frequently Asked Podcast Questions). My hope is that Joel can link to that when he asks the listeners for questions, or when a listener sees that someone has asked a common question, they can link to the FAP-Q. But first things first, gotta build it. So what are some overly common questions people ask (and it'd help if you could tell me what podcast they answered that question the first time in).
So far I've got.
How'd you guys meet / How did this all get started
How many listens does the podcast get
Will you show up and BLANK Con (no audio, just a short paragraph on how Joel can't afford to go to most Cons, and when he went to Webcomics Weekend he was "sponsored").
What are your jobs (this one is actually confusing for me because I'm listening to so many old podcasts, I know Joel's job, I think Josh is still with Gearbox, not sure where Eli and Denise are (I'm fairly certain they aren't working for Gearbox anymore).
Will the comics be serialized
Do all the characters live in the same house
Joel should do radio
Do you watch Stargate
That's all I can think of for now, you guys know of any other FAPQs to add to the list? (P.S. I'm calling it FAP-Q in honor of "you said something about dicks")
And you should just put a list of what Sci Fi they do watch, instead of what they don't (Farscape, Stargate, Babylon 5, etc.)Move over, bananas! I've got a new source of potassium!
Posted By: John DarcYou can mention that Denise and Eli are photography enthusiasts who sometimes get posted in the Dallas Observer.

Blargh, The wiki won't let me create links. When I try to go to Code view, the save option just disappears. Looks like I won't be doing any work on it today. I swear, this wikia system has 20% downtime or something like that.
EDIT:
Eh screw it, I'll make the page here and copy paste it over when it works. (that and if I put a wrong answer to one of the questions, someone can correct me)
FAPQ (Frequently Asked Podcast Questions)
How'd you guys meet / How did this all get started
Audio Answer
Josh & Eli worked together in GearBox, Joel met Josh and became friends while Joel was at college (not in college). Josh went to Europe for a few months, followed by working for a game company in Minnesota, which left Joel and Eli in an awkward situation of trying to find friendship between just the two of them. Eventually, Josh returned to his old job in Texas, reuniting the group. Joel got to know more about Eli, Josh, and a lot of others like Allison and Denise through his lunches with the Gearbox crew.
How it got started cut due to character restraints
How many listens does the podcast get / How many readers does the podcast get?
As of mid-Feburary
audio
The podcast peaked at 3,000 listeners, but that dropped to 600 when the Podcast length got to be too long. Joel shortened the format, and gained 2,000 listeners as of mid-February, with 1000 uStream viewers, however, as the podcasts lengthened again, there was another drop off in listeners, and another shortening of the podcast.
The webcomic has approximately 10,000 readers as of mid-February

Joel can not afford to going to different comic cons due to time and money constraints. He was able to go to Webcomics Weekend because one of the Fancy Bastards specifically donated plane tickets to allow him to go.
Where do you guys work
Joel:
Joel has held a variety of jobs, however currently his only job is working as an artist. Joel works both on HijiNKS ENSUE as well as taking commission jobs. You can contact Joel at INSERT EMAIL LINK if you are interested in hiring Joel for any commission work.
Eli:
From RobotBoots
I am a graduate of the Art Institute of Dallas in 1999. I spent a few years as a graphic designer for a print shop before heading to Gearbox Software where i spent 8 and a half years as an artist. I also have done freelance photography for the Dallas Observer, VYPE magazine, CG Textures, Irving Nimitz High School and other model and wedding photos.
Oh, is that what Josh was doing in Minnesota? I didn't know. All we ever hear is "Fuck David Eick" and "One Popeye's in Minnesota". I thought Joel and Eli did become good friends separate from Josh. Not sure if that's true/if you wanted to get that across. It just sounds like Josh saved the group with his mighty return, which may be true.
And I think Joel's going to Baltimore Comic Con.
Few things: I'm pretty sure Josh didn't move to Minnesota right after Europe.
Joel does occasionally attend cons, though as of right now never has he had his own table at one (except for like five minutes at NEWW, but then the guy whose table it really was showed up). Last I remember he was planning to attend a Comic Con, but I forget which one.

I would take that out. I am doing Baltimore Comic Con in October and after the books come out I will hopefully be doing cons regularly.
GOD this Wiki system is buggy. While putting together the FAP-Q page I've run across a serious problem. The page is simply too large. When pages get too long, Wikia bugs out and randomly reassigns links. If you look at the page now you'll see that all the links don't actually go to what they are supposed to (also some questions are unfinished, so excuse the mess).
I'm not sure what the solution to this is. I don't want to reduce the number of questions and make the FAPQ less useful, so I guess we have to break up the FAPQ into multiple pages. Unless someone has any other ideas?
is there another place the info can be imported?
Hurr... well I forsee four options.
1. Break up the FAQ. One FAQ for personal questions, one for podcast, one for comic questions. Then have one central FAQ that asks all the questions and simply links to the answers in the separate FAQs.
Advantage: Keeps it on the Wiki, keeps the information mostly centralized. Allows information to be edited by anyone who has an FAQ.
Disadvantage: Could be difficult to separate the questions. As it grows, we'll have to break it up even more. Could result in repeat questions on multiple categories or updates to the podcast FAQ that aren't reflected in the central FAQ.
2. Simplify the FAQ. Give the answers in very brief sentences, then for more information link to the individual pages, podcast pages, The Experiment, etc.
Advantage: Keeps the FAQ straight forward and centralized. Can be edited by anyone.
Disadvantage: Might not fully answer the question, will force updates to a lot of different pages, bad for future expansion if there are too many questions.
3. Put the FAQ on the forum. Make a new topic (maybe stickied) for the FAQ. The first post on the topic is the collection of questions and links to the question. Each subsequent post is the answer to just one question. That way, when I want to link to a question, I just link to the post. When I need to add a new question, I simply make a new post (or edit an old one).
Advantage: The questions are in one exact place, and should be easy for me to edit.
Disadvantage: Only I and moderators can edit it. If I end up leaving for some reason then it will be difficult for anyone else to edit the thing. There's also something to be said for how "professional" it would look for it tojust be a forum topic.
4. I make it in HTML and just let you (Joel) make a page for it on HijiNKS ENSUE.
Advantage: Infinite space to expand
Disadvantage: Editing is a royal pain.
I think option 1 or 3 are our best bets. Either way, I'm going to clean up the current FAQ page by removing all the link in it. It will be less dynamic, but it will work for our purposes for now.
What do the Fancy Bastards think?
Unless you're expecting the answers to the questions to change very much - or that a lot of new questions will arise - I feel like a static HTML page would be preferable to something that has to be served through a content management system. These are "frequently asked" questions after all, so it seems like accessibility would be the key factor. Maybe you could just tease out the most important questions for a static page, then serve the rest on a Questions Asked Less Often - or QALO - page, here or on Wikia.

Posted By: YtoabnHow do you do multiple pages on a Wiki, or are you suggesting multiple articles all interlinked? (FAQ1, FAQ2, FAQ3, etc)
Hmm... that method could work, and is expandable. I'll start poking around with making that work.
EDIT: I think this'll work
Now I have to fix up.. y'know... all of it.
