Not sure if any of you guys have caught this yet, it appears for now to be a purely online series, released on AdultSwim.com in 4-5 minute bites. It appears to be a more "mature" version of GI Joe, which opens up with Cobra unleashing a worldwide barrage of attacks that kill at least 10 million people. GI Joe's die, and they most certainly kill the "red shirt" cobra guys.
I'm really not sure what to make of this. Maybe it's just out of my age range, but it feels like they're trying to cross two things that should never be crossed. It's so jarring to see the Joe's actually kill a person. It's weird to hear them curse. It feels like they're trying to force a kids classic into the modern age, and it just fails. If you want to see some of it, just go to Adultswim.com/video, you should be able to find it there. -
I saw the first few minutes of the first episode, and I cared so very, very little. Additions to that product simply don't hold any interest for me. I know a lot of people are really excited about this, and I'm certainly not against it, but I can't bring myself to even finish the pilot.

I saw some of episode 8 the other day. It's better than any GI Joe I remember. Even as a kid them always missing with the laser guns was annoying to me. I remembered thinking that at least in Star Wars someone occasionally got shot with a laser. The episode wasn't really great but it was watchable. It's hard to make a cartoon feel tense while still making it enjoyable to an adult I think. Or maybe I have the pork chop sammiches video so ingrained in my head when I see GI Joe that I can't take them seriously.

I've seen all of the episode and enjoyed them. They're written by Warren Ellis of comic book and Freak Angels fame.

Yes, and Warren Ellis makes this whole thing made of win, especially as it pertains to Cobra Commander. -

I dug this. Especially the Snake Eyes parts, though slashing Storm Shadow down the inside of the forearms probably should have resulted in a lot more blood, but whatevs.
