I was planning on starting a Pen and Paper RPG with a few friends, and I wanted some FB advice about the Serenity RPG. I was originally going to use a modified version of 4e DnD (sans magic) for a Steampunk world, but I was perusing for gifts and saw there was a Serenity RPG. Have any of you tried it? Is it worth the investment? My main concern is that since Firefly presents the space western so well, every session would seem like a rip-off of the series.

Nashoba picked up the books several months ago. He keeps reading through them, but we haven't started playing yet. I've flipped through them a few times myself. It looks really interesting.

The RPG is fascinating to read, the problem of course would trying to make any game like the show or the movie. the gaming system it uses is very simple and easy to understand so that is a point in it's favor. I did have trouble for a while trying to understand the maps involved in the system. I had to peruse through several articles and some fan sites before i began to understand exactly how many planets there were and where they were located. the corebook talks about all the planets as if they were part of one giant solar system, which would be impossible. I finally figured out it meant several planetary systems in close proximity to each other.

The more I look at this system, the more I really like it. Did you guys happen to look at the number of fan-made vehicles/guns/etc.? Any RPG with a guide for insults is a success in my book
