Anyone playing this? I'm afraid to even start, because I might very well pull a Lt. Barclay and ignore all my other responsibilities to play this. I wonder if Joel feels the same way? Was efforting to get an open beta for a few days before I gave up on that.
All I really know is what Scott Kurtz, Kris Straub, and Greg Dean have put into their webcomics. Please tell me it's horrible and I don't have to worry about actually playing it.
I tried out the beta for a week or so, but didn't commit to it when it launched. Mostly because I'm already sinking time into DDO. I have to say that STO was one of the most mature (from a development perspective) MMOs I've ever seen launched. I'm sorry to say there's a lot to like about it. You can choose from any number of in-universe Federation species or create your own. After you've played a while, you can also play on the Klingon side (which, as you might expect, relies heavily on PvP). Quests are a mix of ground missions and space missions, and success depends in part on how well you've cultivated your bridge crew. Or the combined crew of you and your friends.
