The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

I just watched this last night and loved it. The idea of making the main character the camera throughout most of the film was brilliant. Anyone else seen this gem?

I've not even heard of it. Do you have a link to a trailer?

Looks like it was a short film 10 years ago:

some co workers and i talked about this movie all day at work today, i can't believe so many people haven't seen it. i heard that the book took 200,000 blinks to write (or something like that).

I cannot imagine trying to write a book just by blinking. That is some strong-willed humanity for you. I really want to read it. I had no idea about the short film! I'll have to look for it.

"blink once for yes and twice for no. is the next word in the book Aardvark?"
    (blink blink)
    "is it Aaron?"
    (blink blink)
    "is it...."

one bad stenographer and our precious diving bell would have been nothing but "Aaron the ambivalent aardvark ambled down the avenue wearing a pair of alligator shoes accented only by his argyle ascot..."
oh and what a fantastic read it would have been!

Ah, Aaron the Ambivalent Aardvark! It'd be a great book for children! One of the cooler things in the movie (if you're a word geek like me) is that his speech therapist made a little chart where the letters of the alphabet were arranged by how frequently they're used in the french language. This helped him dictate the book.
I looked up letter and word frequency in the english language and found this site. Fascinating stuff.

that website is fascinating! i wish that i were surprised that 'dollars' is one of the most used words in the english language.
